Modernizing a Mission-Critical EcoHarvest MRV Platform Under Constraints
How I stabilized a legacy MRV platform, reduced development costs, coordinated multiple offshore development teams, and led new-build work to support producers, implementation partners, internal teams, downstream modeling, and verification.
EcoHarvest’s MRV platform supports producer enrollment, implementation partner workflows, internal PM/data operations, and downstream modeling. The work required more than software delivery. It required stabilizing the legacy product, reducing development costs, coordinating offshore teams across time zones, maintaining legacy production continuity, and leading a new-build effort while managing product decisions, vendor accountability, UAT, security readiness, data quality, and launch tradeoffs.
The Operating Problem
The organization needed to maintain and stabilize a legacy MRV platform while also building the next version of the product. The platform supported external users, internal operations, data workflows, reporting, and downstream modeling needs, so product decisions could not be made in isolation from finance, user support, security, vendor capacity, or organizational risk.
At the same time, development costs needed to come down, legacy knowledge had to be preserved, and multiple teams had to coordinate across different time zones without losing production continuity or launch momentum.
What Changed
The work created a more stable operating path across legacy support, new product development, vendor management, and internal data/modeling dependencies. The legacy platform had clearer continuity support, development costs were reduced, and the new build had stronger product ownership, UAT structure, launch-readiness discipline, and cross-functional decision support.
The result was not simply a software rebuild. It was a more disciplined operating model for managing a mission-critical platform while balancing cost, risk, users, data quality, vendors, and organizational capacity.
